Ring, block, disc, cylinder, segment, HDD assembly or broken magnet: geometry helps with sorting, but is not evidence of the material.

When offering loose block and rectangular magnets or cleanly separated lots for sale, state the dimensions, number of items, total weight, coating and origin.

Ring magnets and magnets with a bore are assessed by their outer and inner diameters, height, coating and documented material family.

Disc and cylindrical shapes cannot be identified as NdFeB by appearance alone. Documentation, dimensions, how consistently the lot is sorted and origin are relevant to the initial assessment.

Rotor segments and arc magnets are used in motors and generators. Loose segments and complete rotors require different system boundaries.
